Fact-Checking Policy
Last updated: 20 June 2026
Verification
Every claim about contract language, pricing, or claim handling is verified against a real vehicle service contract we have on file or against a primary source (state insurance filing, FTC guidance, NAIC bulletin). Where multiple administrators handle a term differently, we say so.
Update cadence
Pillar guides are reviewed every six months. Supporting articles are reviewed whenever regulations, major administrators, or industry practice change materially.
Corrections workflow
Reader-reported errors are triaged within three business days. Confirmed errors are corrected in the article and noted with a dated "Correction" line at the bottom.
Sources we trust
- FTC consumer guidance on auto warranties
- NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) bulletins
- State insurance regulator filings and rate decisions
- AM Best insurer financial-strength ratings
- Actual contracts from manufacturers, dealers, and third-party administrators
